“After 8 marathons in as many years and finally cracking the sub-4 hour time at my last attempt, I decided it was time for a new and bigger challenge.
At a friends 40th birthday bash last summer, I got chatting to a lady who said she made a list of 40 things to do at 40 (I turn 40 on the 18th March 2020), and the idea stuck with me.
So in November 2019 when I was making plans for the year ahead, I sat down and wrote a list of 40 things to do at 40, completing a 100km event being one of them!
I genuinely don’t want for anything in life, so rather than receive gifts for my birthday, I thought it would be an excellent idea to raise money for charity, which seems to be a growing trend these days.
And having met “Foxy” at a black tie event last year for Rock2Recovery, this seemed like and excellent charity to raise money for; raising money for true heroes that genuinely have mental health problems.
I’ve also roped in a great friend from school to join me in the event, Darren Clark, and this will be his first long-distance event which will be an impressive first event!
So here we are, please dig deep and let’s help Rock2Recovery continue their excellent work.
Thanks, Ben”
