3 Peaks, 4 Veterans
We are 4 veterans with a combined service of 48 years in the British Army. We wanted to set ourselves a challenge, one that would bring us all together and challenge us both physically and mentally whilst also raising money and awareness for 2 charities. The 3 Peaks challenge fitted perfectly, that’s Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours. This will include 23.5 miles of hiking and 462 miles of driving. We would like to raise money and awareness for the following charity and CiC.
Blesma, The Limbless Veterans
They have been helping and supporting veterans since World War 1. They provide advice, guidance and grants to any veterans with prosthetic limbs, or those who are awaiting to have prosthetic limbs fitted. Only last year they provided grants for 771 recipients to help them to cover the additional costs of their disability. Check out their website and see for yourself the excellent work that they do. https://blesma.org/
Rock2Recovery (CIC)
Their mission is to save and change the lives of those in our Armed Forces, our veteran community, emergency services and their families who are affected by stress or are in need of mental health support. In 2020 they helped over 752 people and delivered 2790 coaching sessions; this is a 70% increase from the year before so are in much need for fund raising. One of the founders of this community interest company is Jason Fox who is a huge advocate for veteran’s mental health. Check out their site https://rock2recovery.co.uk/
